High Raise

Date: 04/07/2019
Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Location: High Raise

The Adventure Peaks Lake District Guided Walk of High Raise is a gentle classic. It is a delight from start to finish comprising waterfalls, great crags, wild tarns and also performs nobaly as a major panoramic station. High Raise’s central summit position, slightly biased to the south, give the walker the best wide angled view of the area there is, making you feel right in the heart of the Lake District.

The Adventure Peaks Guided Walk of High Raise begins in Grasmere, a small town that played such an important role in the life of William Wordsworth and his poetry. From here we make our way up Sour Milk Gill, past the wonderful waterfalls, until we reach Easedale Tarn. Next we pass below the impressive Blea Rigg and make our ascent to Sergent Man, crossing High Raise’s plateau to the summit and Low White Stones.

“Hereabouts the surround of mountainous country is complete, the western arc being occupied by a tumultuous skyline and the eastern horizon formed of lofty, smooth ranges; but, quite obviously, the viewpoint is dwarfed in panorama. Nevertheless, High Raise occupies a magnificent position geograpghically, many valleys radiating from the upper wide slopes.”
Alfred Wainwright
