Guided Walks information

Background

Our Lake District Guided Walks are aimed at walkers who would like to explore the Lake District fells under our expert guidance without the need to have good navigation skills. The Guided Walks are graded from easy to hard. Our walks run in the summer months from Easter to September and as winter walks from December to March.

Acknowledgement of risk

Adventure Peaks recognises that climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement. Adventure Peaks will not be held responsible for death, personal injuries, accidents or loss or damage to property or belongings that may occur to a client, or any person attending a walk or event, during that event (except in the case where death or personal injury are caused as a result of the negligence of Adventure Peaks).

Private walks

If you are interested in a particular walk on a different date to those advertised, please get in touch. We can also arrange Private Guided Walks on a date to suit you.

Your responsibility

You should be suitably equipped for the activity and have the appropriate level of fitness for your chosen activity (if in doubt please ask for advice prior to booking). By taking part you signify your acceptance of our leader’s authority to make decisions affecting the group or individuals. For instance, he/she may require an individual to leave the group/activity if he/she believes that person’s health is at risk, inadequate fitness, if an illegal act is committed or their behaviour becomes detrimental to the safety, enjoyment or well-being of the group. Should the leader take such action, that person would not be entitled to any refund.

Age restrictions

The minimum age for our general group walks is 12 years with a good level of fitness. Younger children can be included as part of a Private Guided Walk. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Dogs

We allow dogs to accompany clients on appropriate activities provided they remain under the control of the client at all times. Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring a dog with you.

Complaints

In the unlikely event of any problem or complaint, this should be brought to the leader’s attention at the earliest opportunity, so that the matter can be resolved as soon as possible.

Cancellations & changes

We will only change or cancel an activity due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g. weather) or because of failure to reach minimum group numbers (3 people). We will inform you of such changes at the earliest opportunity and in the case of participation numbers, not less than 1 week before the activity (for group walks/activities). In the event of a cancellation/change by Adventure Peaks, you are entitled to a full refund, however we cannot accept responsibility for any costs incurred by you (e.g. transport, accommodation) or others linked to your booking.

If you wish to change an existing booking, we will aim to help. If a change is possible, we will charge an amendment fee of £10 per booking to cover our administrative costs.

If you cancel an activity booking 7 or more days before the event we will issue a refund, less £10 per person, provided we are able to re-sell your place/s on the activity. If you cancel less than 7 days before the start time we reserve the right to retain the full cost.

If you wish to cancel, you must inform us in writing/via email. Your cancellation date is the date on which we receive written instruction. The following cancellation fees will apply:

  • 30-8 days before start date: retention of 50% of total price
  • 7 or fewer days before start date: retention of 100%.
