Lake District Winter Walking Skills

From: £90.00

The Lake District can provide good winter conditions for you to learn or recap on basic winter skills. It is normal for us to use the Helvellyn or Scafell mountains, which hold the snow well and give reasonably quick access alongside great views and photographic opportunities. Our instructors will decide on the final venue according to the prevailing weather and snow conditions.

We will aim to cover:
• Movement on snow & ice with crampons
• Use of Ice Axe and how to self arrest
• Avalanche Awareness
• Basic Navigation advice
• Clothing & footwear

Ratio: 1:6

Minimum 3 people (booked 2 weeks in advance)

Private instruction is available for £270 per day, please contact our office for details.

You can extend your course to put your newly acquired skills into action by booking a second day on our ‘Lake District Winter Summits’ or ‘Intro Winter Mountaineering’ Courses
