Scafell Pike in snow – 1st May 2016

Leader: Ian Oldham
Guided Walk: Scafell Pike

On Saturday, after a long drive round from Ambleside, I led a group of four up Scafell Pike. The snow made it harder work but was worth it for the fantastic scenery. By going up via Mickledore we enjoyed a very quiet ascent beneath Scafell Crag, away from the masses of other walkers.

The summit was reached after 3and a half hours and the descent took almost as long, thanks to the snow.

Clouds lifted briefly on the summit allowing a view eastwards down to Windermere.
