Service Description
Our full-day private Mountain Skills course can be tailored entirely to your groups ability and aims and can be run across the Lake District. We will work with you to plan the perfect skills course. WE CAN COVER: - Understanding maps, grid references, contours & symbols - Orientating a map & taking bearings - Navigation and orientation techniques - Measuring distance on the map - Route planning & escape routes - Pacing and timing to accurately measure distance - Micro-navigation - Camp craft - Weather forecasting - What to pack/wear & layering systems - Basic steep ground techniques WHAT TO BRING: - Walking boots (waterproof recommended) - Clothing suitable for walking (no jeans) - Rucksack (waterproof liner recommended) - Waterproof jacket and trousers - Warm layer, hat and gloves - Sun hat, sun glasses and sun cream - Water bottle (minimum 1 litre) - Food (packed lunch and snacks) - Head torch (charged) - Any personal medication including Epipens - Personal equipment you'd like to practice with This list is mandatory year round. If you are missing any items please get in touch. Arriving to a Mountain Skills Course without these items may result in you being turned away. Your instructor will have all navigation equipment necessary.
Cancellation Policy
If you wish to cancel, you must update your booking information via the website or inform us in writing/via email. Your cancellation date is the date on which we receive written instruction or website confirmation. The following cancellation fees will apply: 30¬15 days before start date: retention of 50% of total price. 14 or fewer days before start date: retention of 100% of total price. The Company cannot be held responsible for any missed connecting transport that you have booked independently of the Company.
