Duration: Around 5 hours Grade: Moderate Minimum Age: 12 years Height: 806m / 2,644ft Distance: 13.8km / 8.6 miles Total Ascent/Descent: 773m / 2,536ft Wainwrights: Red Pike 755m, High Stile 806m, High Crag 744m Meeting Point: Syke Farm Campsite Cafe What3Words: ///brownish.spout.rare Buttermere is a truly beautiful part of the Lake District with a rugged and remote feel. It is home to Alfred Wainwright’s favourite mountain, Haystacks. From our meeting point, we walk to the northwest end of Buttermere and make our way up to Red Pike, our first Wainwright, via Lingcomb Edge. From the summit of Red Pike we then head along the ridge taking in High Stile, High Crag and Seat. From Seat we drop down to Scarth Gap where we descend back to the valley and make our way back to Buttermere along the side of the lake. WHAT TO BRING - Walking boots (waterproof recommended) - Clothing suitable for walking (no jeans) - Rucksack (waterproof liner recommended) - Waterproof jacket and trousers - Warm layer, hat and gloves - Sun hat, sun glasses and sun cream - Water bottle (minimum 1 litre) - Packed lunch - Head torch (charged) - Any personal medication including Epipens This list is mandatory year round. If you are missing any items please get in touch. Arriving to a walk without these items may result in you being turned away. THIS ACTIVITY REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 4 PARTICIPANTS TO RUN.
Cancellation Policy
If you wish to cancel, you must update your booking information via the website or inform us in writing/via email. Your cancellation date is the date on which we receive written instruction or website confirmation. The following cancellation fees will apply: 30¬15 days before start date: retention of 50% of total price. 14 or fewer days before start date: retention of 100% of total price. The Company cannot be held responsible for any missed connecting transport that you have booked independently of the Company.
