Public Esk Gorge Scrambling

Full Day Ghyll Scrambling

6 hr
80 British pounds
Hardknott Pass

Meeting Point: Hardknott Pass Considered the biggest and most intense gorge scramble in the Lake District, Esk Gorge is not for the faint of heart! The gorge sources its water straight from the base of the tallest mountain in England, Scafell Pike. A combination of beautiful isolated views and chillingly tall jumps, the Esk makes for a day never to be forgotten!  The ghyll is best suited to those with ghyll scrambling experience and a reasonable level of fitness. The walk in & out is a one hour trek along a well-trodden footpath to the end of the Eskdale valley. WHAT TO BRING: - Ghyll-friendly footwear (we recommend old trainers that can get wet or wetsuit shoes) - Swimwear and base-layer to wear under wetsuit - Sun cream - Towel (large enough to change under) - Warm change of clothes - Appropriate footwear for the approach - Water - Packed Lunch - Any personal medication including Epipens - Waterproof case for phone/waterproof camera (at own risk) You will be provided with a buoyancy aid, a helmet, a harness (if necessary) and a 5/4 ml wetsuit (just let us know your size). Your guide will have a waterproof bag for any medication. Any technology is bought along at your own risk! THIS ACTIVITY REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 3 PARTICIPANTS TO RUN. Participants must be 12 years or older with a good level of fitness. For younger participants or smaller groups, get in touch to book Private Ghyll Scrambling.
